Turf Fields and Portable Mounds

Any complexes that contain turf fields will NEVER allow the use of sunflower seeds by the players or spectators – regardless of where you spit them. The seeds will blow onto the turf from the stands and cups/bottles will get knocked over and make a mess. Metal spikes will also NEVER be allowed on portable mounds and/or turf fields. There are some instances when a turf field has a dirt mound and we will make sure that teams are aware that the pitcher can wear metal spikes. Players and fans who are unable to abide by facility and tournament rules will be asked to leave the facility or be ejected from the game. If they refuse to follow the rules their team will be subject to a forfeit.

Youth Fields (8-12U)

Teams between 8-12U will NEVER be allowed to wear metal spikes regardless of the field type. We also encourage players who have the potential to pitch to wear tennis shoes or turf shoes while throwing off portable mounds. Typically, these types of shoes have better grip on the mounds than rubber cleats.

High School Fields (13-18U)

Metal spikes are NEVER allowed on any of the turf fields that we use. If you are 13 or 14U there is a good chance you will be playing on a city park with a portable mound. Metal spikes are never allowed on portable mounds.
